What can I enter as an AMV?
Any anime show or movie, and video games are allowed. In the case of video game entries, only cut scenes (cinematic or otherwise) will be accepted; using actual gameplay is not allowed. Of course, all anime and games must be related to Asian culture.
How long can my video be?
We have a FIVE MINUTE cap on videos. We want to show as many videos as we can, so we're trying to keep them a bit shorter this time around to ensure all entries can be shown in the time given.
How many videos can I enter?
There is a 3 entry limit per person
My video has subtitles in it, is that okay?
No. Any foreign text, whether it be subtitles, credit sequences, or otherwise will not be permitted.
What if my video is offensive?
We are keeping the Family Guy rule in place. If the video content or language can make it on air with Family Guy, you are most likely safe, just keep in mind we are a family friendly con and you should be fine.
What about awards?
As in past years, we will have the following awards:
-
Best in Show (the best of the best. we think you rocked it.)
-
Best Artistic (using a song to convey the mood, and/or tells a story)
-
Best Technical (best use of editing techniques and effects)
-
The Fan's Choice Award!, we want you, our audience to chose which AMV you think rocked it
How will it work?
All AMV submissions will be required to have a title. During the contest, each video will have its title displayed before and after (“Coming up next, ____” “You just watched _____”). Audience members are then asked to vote for which AMV was their favourite. Me and my co-host will count the votes, and have a winner!
This year we hope to have a better voting system, and more time as to announce the winner at the end of the panel.
So make sure you come out and support your fellow AMV creators!
Why didn't you play my video?
If you followed all the rules but didn't have your AMV shown, it's because we ran out of time. We try to show as much as we can, however, sometimes we can't show everything given our time restraints.
We also reserve the right to disqualify any entry we find doesn’t abide by our rules
Welcome to the Ai-kon AMV showcase. Yet again we will be rocking out on Sunday with some awesome videos. As in previous years, we will be pre-judging the AMV’s before the convention! This means they will all have to be submitted by the deadline. Any late entries will not be eligible for awards.
Please also note this year's earlier deadline, to provide better time for myself and the other judges to work through any issues with submitted videos and judging.
The contest for 2015 is now closed, Thanks to everyone who participated! If you want to enter next year's contest read below and check out our News Feed when entries open
